An all Swedish program for flute alone, performed by the virtuoso Swedish flutist Göran Marcusson. The repertoire is focused on sonatas written for solo flute by the modernists of the “Monday group”, Sven-Erik Bäck, Ingvar Lidholm, Sven-Erik Johansson and their teacher and mentor Hilding Rosenberg. While rarely performed, these sonatas present a world rich in vivid characters and beautiful melodies. The album includes premiere recordings of four pieces in a similar expressionistic style. A humorous tango by Paula af Malmborg-Ward, an Arcadian melody by Tina Andersson, an elegy by Kenneth Olausson and a joyful cadenza by Niklas Willén. The recording was made in the beautiful acoustics of Edsvära church in Västergötland.
