”Twelve Moments in Stockholm” presents pianist Christina Grigoryants in her most intimate and exploratory form to date. This album brings together a collection of pieces that reflect the breadth of her artistry – from timeless jazz standards to genre-defying interpretations that blur the lines between classical structure and improvisational freedom.

Among the highlights are the flowing elegance of Bach on the Water, the sweeping drama of Jon Lord’s Sarabande, the lyrical tenderness of Bernstein’s Maria, the spiritual gravitas of Ave Maria (Bach/Gounod), and the haunting cinematic atmosphere of Eduard Artemyev’s Slave of Love. Each track offers a distinctive musical world – shaped by both deep reverence and an insatiable curiosity to explore new expressive terrain.

Rooted in a solid classical foundation, Christina has spent years performing the great repertoire of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Mozart, and Rachmaninoff. But alongside this, jazz has always been a natural and vital part of her musical language. Influenced early on by the jazz sheet music brought home by her father, a touring big band musician, and the rich record collection of her mother, Christina’s passion for jazz developed organically – nourished by the lush harmonies, rhythmic vitality, and freedom of expression that define the genre.

”Twelve Moments in Stockholm” captures this dual heritage. With a rare sensitivity and imagination, Christina revisits familiar works with fresh ears – reinterpreting, reshaping, and allowing each piece to speak anew.

Recorded on Nilento Studios Steinway D in Musikaliska kvarteret in Stockholm, the result is a collection that feels at once grounded and adventurous, intimate and expansive.
